Description
Archaeological evaluation (trial trenching) along the proposed route of the A1073 relief road between Eye (near Peterborough) and Spalding. The evaluated section runs for a distance of just over 14km and the road corridor is approximately 35m wide. Seventy-seven trenches were excavated, with each trench being approximately 2m wide. The length of the trenching was 2450m, equivalent to a 1% sample of the bypass route. Trenches were targeted at specific geophysical anomalies in some areas, while others were speculative {1} {2}
