Full Description

PRN 23902 Archaeological evaluation (trial trenching) along the proposed route of the A1073 relief road between Eye (near Peterborough) and Spalding. The evaluation identified two ditches and a truncated pit containing pottery dating to the Saxo-Norman period (975 to 1150 AD). Both ditches had a very similar profile, being steep sided with flat bases, but one of them was three times as deep as the other and showed signs of very slow filling {1} {2}
