Archaeological evaluation (trial trenching) along the proposed route of the A1073 relief road between Eye (near Peterborough) and Spalding. The evaluation identified two post-medieval ditches, one of which was broad and extremely shallow and aligned northeast to southwest. The ditch was aligned east to west, and had an irregular stepped profile and a flat base. The upper fill of the second ditch contained fragments of post-medieval brick and animal bone, and probably functioned as a boundary ditch {1} {2}
