Abstract/Summary
Report on a site visit and programme of archaeological monitoring and recording undertaken as part of a scheme of works relating to the replacement of a water pipeline between Normanton and Hough-on-the-Hill. A single sherd of late Medieval pottery was recovered during the initial site visit, but no other archaeologically significant features, deposits or finds were encountered. During the monitoring and recording, undated features were identified in Normanton village. To the west of the village, human remains were encountered, at which point the excavation was halted until a full excavation could be undertaken (see ELI2337). Evidence of ridge and furrow was also encountered to the west of Normanton. Medieval and post-Medieval pottery and prehistoric worked flints were recovered.
