Description

A programme of archaeological monitoring and recording was undertaken as part of a scheme of works relating to the replacement of a water pipeline between Normanton and Hough-on-the-Hill. Undated features were identified in Normanton village. To the west of the village, human remains were encountered, at which point the excavation was halted until a full excavation could be undertaken (see ELI2337). Evidence of ridge and furrow was also encountered to the west of Normanton. Medieval and post-Medieval pottery and prehistoric worked flints were recovered along the route. {1}{2}
