Description

A fieldwalking survey was conducted as part of research to inform the proposed dualling of the A46 road between Newark and Lincoln. The survey was devised with the aim of locating all major concentrations of post-medieval or earlier material within 100m of the proposed new road route, in order to provide further data on the distribution of archaeological sites within the area threatened by development. Significant material found within the Lincolnshire part of the route comprised two scatters of Romano-British pottery, found on land to the south-east of Thorpe on the Hill, and a single prehistoric flint flake, found on land to the east of Cross Ways Farm. {1}
