Full Description

A scatter of Romano-British pottery was found in this location in the winter of 1990-1. The scatter was noted during a programme of archaeological field walking, conducted to inform the proposed dualling of the A46 road between Newark and Lincoln. The assemblage was comprised of 11 abraded sherds of grey ware pottery, including two rims from a late 1st or 2nd century pie dish, and a fragment from a large platter of 1st century date. The assemblage also included three basal pieces from probable former jars, although these pieces could not be closely dated. {1}
