Title Grantham Southern Quadrant: Geophysical Survey
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2013
HER Report no. 2545
Archaeological Project Services 92/13

Abstract/Summary

Report on a geophysical survey conducted to inform the proposed construction of a large new residential development on land to the south of Grantham. Linear magnetic responses were returned across most of the site, including a probable Roman road and associated boundary ditches, and at least three possible partial ditched enclosures. Discrete area anomalies possibly representing pits and areas of quarrying were also noted across the site. Towards the southwest corner of the surveyed area were a number of large amorphous anomalies that may represent rubble spreads or industrial activity linked to the Roman settlement of Saltersford.
