Full Description

A pair of widely set ditches, located in a southwest to northeast direction across two fields and visible as cropmark. {1} The National Mapping Programme (NMP) shows double ditches and the most southern ditches continues further. It is interpreted by the NMP as a possible Roman road. {2} A magnetometry survey conducted in 2013 identified several lengths of possible surviving roadside ditch on the same alignment as the previously identified cropmarks. Some of these features (see MLI128070) extended approx. 430m further to the southwest towards the Romano-British settlement of Saltersford (MLI33968), though as none of these were identified as parallel pairs of ditches, it is not clear if they are associated with the Roman road. {3}{4}
