Abstract/Summary

Report on a programme of archaeological monitoring and recording conducted on a scheme of geotechnical works along the route of the proposed Grantham Southern Relief Road between Whalebone Lane, Little Ponton and the A52 at Somerby Hill. A total of 35 boreholes, soakaways and test pits were monitored. No archaeologically significant features or deposits were encountered, though unstratified finds including Iron Age-Roman and post-Medieval pot, a Medieval roof tile fragment, Prehistoric worked flint, and ironsmithing slag were recovered.
