Full Description

During archaeological monitoring of a series of boreholes and geo test pits along the proposed route of the Grantham Southern Relief Road in September-November 2012, a single sherd of shell-gritted pottery was recovered from the plough soil. {1}{2} A scatter of Roman pottery was recovered during a programme of systematic fieldwalking of the proposed route of the Grantham Southern Relief Road in February 2013. The assemblage comprised 11 greyware sherds, 4 Nene valley sherds and a single sherd of Mancetter Hartshill Mortaria. {3}{4}
