Full Description

Seven fragments of ironsmithing slag were recovered from the route of the proposed Grantham Southern Relief Road during a programme of archaeological monitoring and recording in 2012. Though residual finds from topsoil or subsoil, it is possible that they are of Roman origin, given the proximity of the Roman settlement of Saltersford to the southwest (see MLI33968). {1}{2}
