Full Description
A field system comprising a large rectilinear enclosure identified by geophysical survey in 2012. Though the enclosure was not datable from the survey results, it was assumed to be of Bronze Age to Early Iron Age date due to the presence of nearby features of that date. An adjacent pit alignment (MLI82414) may also be contemporary with this field system. {1}
Subsequent trial trenching confirmed the presence of the field system, comprised of substantial boundary ditches measuring between 1.8m and 2.2m in width. No datable finds were recovered from the fills of the ditches. {2}{3}
Another section of ditch forming part of the same field system was revealed during a trial trenching evaluation conducted in 2021. Again, no evidence for the date of the ditch was recovered. {4}{5}
