Description

80 trial trenches were excavated during the first phase of an evaluation to inform the proposed construction of a new water treatment works, to the south-west of Newton on Trent. Three prehistoric pits and a ditch of probably prehistoric date were recorded, along with a Roman ditch and oven. Small quantities of prehistoric and Roman pottery, worked flint and a Roman copper alloy toilet implement were recovered. {1}{2}
