THE RAILWAY GATE HOUSE HAS BEEN DEMOLISHED. IT WAS A RED BRICK SINGLE STOREY SLATE ROOFED BUILDING, WITH YELLOW BRICK WINDOW ARCHES, DECORATIVE BARGE BOARD AND PINNACLES - MATCHING NEARBY EAST HOLMES SIGNAL BOX. OUTSIDE LEVER FRAME CONTROLLED SIGNALS AND LEVEL CROSSING. THE GATE HOUSE WAS DEMOLISHED WHEN THE LEVEL CROSSING WAS CONVERTED TO LIFTING BARRIERS IN THE LATE 1980'S.
