Full Description

Nineteenth and twentieth century enclosed gardens on the site of seventeenth to eighteenth century formal gardens. Walled kitchen gardens of the seventeenth century to the north. Herb garden, knot garden to the west of the house and terrace. Beyond the enclosed west garden is an avenue of Irish yew trees planted in about 1960. In the north-western area there was considerable planting of ornamental and unusual trees and shrubs in the 1930s and the area was developed after 1950 into a wild garden. {1} There is a garden temple in the garden and rusticated garden gate piers of c.1700. The gate piers and the wall are listed II* (see PRN65510).
