Description

A full-scale archaeological excavation covering most of the former station site was carried out in advance of re-development. The excavations concentrated on the friary remains due to these being closest to the surface and most at risk from the development. Some material relating to earlier occupation was also recovered. A watching brief was also carried out as the final stage of evaluation, but no separate details regarding this are available. {1}{2}
