Description

Excavations were carried out at the Central Library site prior to construction. Only areas directly affected by the construction were excavated, in order to preserve as much archaeology in situ as possible. Extensive deposits were revealed, including Roman and Saxon material as well as material relating to the Franciscan friary. {1}{2}
