Date/Year 2013

Abstract/Summary

Archive for a programme of archaeological evaluation comprising four trial trenches excavated on land at 35-40a St Paul's Street, Stamford, to inform a proposed mixed commercial and residential development. The remains of a limestone structure of probable Medieval date was revealed close to the street frontage, truncating pits containing waste from Medieval ironworking. At the rear of the plot, substantial terracing had taken place in the late post-Medieval period. Overlying this was a late 19th century cobbled surface.
