Archive for a programme of archaeological evaluation comprising fifteen trial trenches excavated on land at Temple Hill to inform the proposed construction of six wind turbines and associated infrastructure. Dense areas of potential archaeology identified during a prior geophysical survey (see ELI14366) were preserved in situ, and trenching targeted areas due to be directly affected by the proposed development. In the north of the site, three Iron Age ditches were encountered, two of which could be more precisely dated to the Late Iron Age. Also encountered in this area were a possible Middle Bronze Age field boundary and a number of undated ditches and pit/posthole features. To the west, three more possible Bronze Age ditches were revealed, and Roman pottery was recovered from an infilled palaeochannel. Four east-west aligned furrows were also noted. At the southern end of the site, an undated linear and six possible pits were encountered, along with one probable post-Medieval ditch. At the eastern edge of the survey area seven more undated ditches, an undated pit and two Roman (probably 2nd century AD) ditches were encountered.
