Full Description

An undated but possibly Bronze Age teardrop-shape enclosure was identified on land at Temple Hill, Hough-on-the-Hill, during a geophysical survey in February-April 2013. The feature is north-south aligned, wider to the south and narrowing to the north, with entrances at each end. There appear to be several internal ditches and pits. {1} During subsequent trial trenching in June-July 2013, a trench was dug to investigate the internal features of the enclosure. Three ditches of probable Bronze Age date were encountered, from which 16 sherds of Middle Bronze Age pottery were recovered. {2}{3}
