Abstract/Summary

Report on a fluxgate gradiometer survey, conducted to inform proposed road development at the A46 Welton Road Junction, Dunholme. The survey did not reveal any definitive archaeological remains, although a small number of pit-like and linear features were identified which may be archaeological in origin, however a geological or modern origin is also likely. Agriculturally related features and modern disturbance were also observed within the survey area. Subsequent trial trenching in this area confirmed some of the magnetic anomalies as archaeological features, comprising the remains of probable ridge and furrow, a post-medieval trackway and an undated pit (see ELI13560).
