Description

A fluxgate gradiometer survey was conducted to inform proposed road development at the A46 Welton Road Junction, Dunholme. The survey did not reveal any definitive archaeological remains, although a small number of pit-like and linear features were identified which may be archaeological in origin, however a geological or modern origin is also likely. Agriculturally related features and modern disturbance were also observed within the survey area. {1} Subsequent trial trenching in this area confirmed some of the magnetic anomalies as archaeological features, comprising the remains of probable ridge and furrow, a post-medieval trackway and an undated pit (see ELI13560).
