Title Cemetery Field Excavations, Ancaster
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2016
HER Report no. 5825

Abstract/Summary

Report on an earth resistance survey and the excavation of three trial trenches, dug as part of a community archaeological investigation of a field in the south of Ancaster, known as Cemetery Field. The trenches were targeted to investigate a number of geophysical anomalies recorded by the prior earth resistance survey, but resolved all of the investigated examples as near-surface geological variation, with no archaeological features or deposits identified. An assemblage of redeposited Roman pottery was recovered, however, along with a Roman coin and a probable Roman finger-ring.
