Full Description

The earthwork remains of medieval ridge and furrow were recorded in August 2010, during the archaeological monitoring of the replacement of electrical cables at Grimsthorpe Castle, Edenham. A sherd of 13th century medieval Bourne ware pottery was recovered from one of the furrows cut by the cable trench. A small area of the ridge and furrow was recorded in a subsequent earthwork survey, when two north to south aligned ridges were plotted. Between the plotted ridges was a small, roughly rectangular hollow, interpreted as a small cottage enclosure of post-medieval date (see PRN 33661). {1}{2}
