Full Description

During investigations on land adjacent to Hall Farm, middle Saxon pottery and fragmentary human remains were recovered from a Saxo-Norman ditch 'at the southern edge of the site'. At least two individuals were represented although no graves were found. It is presumed that the cutting of the Saxo-Norman ditch was peripheral to, and may have disturbed, an earlier cemetery with the common location of the bones and pottery suggesting a middle Saxon date. It is not certain which ditch the finds came from as only minimal information was provided in the report. Therefore the exact location may not be accurate.{1}
