Full Description

During a geophysical survey and scheme of trial trenching, a shallow linear feature aligned west-north-west/east-south-east of undetermined function was recorded, along with several pits, three of which were thought to be modern. A north/south aligned gully containing fired clay fragments, charcoal, and lumps of compacted (possibly baked) silty clay was also recorded. {1}{2}{3} During a subsequent programme of archaeological monitoring and recording in 2002, a further north-south aligned undated ditch was encountered. This corresponds to a former dyke seen on historic mapping and is likely post-Medieval in origin. {4}{5}
