Full Description

A church and a priest are mentioned in the Domesday Book. It belonged to the Abbey of St Peter at Westminster. {1} By 1770 the church was in a 'very ruinous condition', and so was rebuilt in 1770-75 by Thomas Lumby and was restored in 1911. {2}{3} It is depicted on an illustration of Doddington of the early eighteenth century. {4} For the full description and the legal address of this listed building please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {5} A brass plaque and illuminated oak framed roll of honour commemorating those who died in the First World War hangs in the church porch. It was unveiled in 1920, along with the nearby lych gate (see PRN 67052). {6}
