Full Description

PRN 61029 Eagle Hall Farm is located in the formerly extra-parochial hamlet of Eagle Hall. The Hall is a modest early eighteenth century house altered in the nineteenth century. Some of the rubble walls may be medieval. The barn is dated 1715. Both buildings are listed (II). For the full description and the legal address of this listed building or buildings please refer to the appropriate List of Buildings of Special Architectural or Historic Interest. {1}{2}{3}{4} It is located on the site of the Knights Templar preceptory, but is excluded from the scheduling, although the ground beneath them is included. Earthworks believed to be garden features associated with the Hall are located to the south. (See 61054). {5} Former and current yard surfaces associated with the farm were uncovered during a watching brief. Post medieval tile and brick were also seen. {7}{8} Manor Farm, Eagle and Swinethorpe. Extant Medieval farmstead. Regular courtyard with multiple regular yards. The farmhouse is detached from the main working complex. Located within a Church and/or Manor farm group. Large modern sheds are located to the side of the site. {9}
