18 HOUSEHOLDS ARE RECORDED IN 1563, BUT WITH ONLY 28 COMMUNICANTS IN 1603 AND 37 IN 1676. THERE WAS A FALL IN POPULATION DURING THE C17 TO 8 HOUSEHOLDS IN 1705-23 AND THIS IS PROBABLY CONNECTED WITH THE CONVERSION FROM ARABLE TO PASTURE, AND CERTAINLY SIR EDWARD AYSCOUGH CONVERTED 100 ACRES THERE IN 1607. FORMAL ENCLOSURE TOK PLACE BETWEEN 1634 AND 1694. {1}
