Full Description
The remains of the medieval church of St Peter. The shell of the tower is the only remaining feature. The tower is Early English in date. {1}{2}
Pevsner notes the tower is of greenstone and white ashlar and is early Perpendicular in date. {3}
The old church is half a mile from the replacement church [PRN 41270] which is an exact reproduction. {4}
The west tower of a church which is now destroyed. It was constructed in the late 15th century and underwent alteration in the 20th century. It was built of limestone ashlar, coursed greenstone rubble and some red brick. It is a three stage tower with four stage angle buttresses with multiple set-offs. The west front has a pointed doorway with a richly moulded head with a fragmentary hood mould blocked with red brick.
