Full Description

Evidence for occupation in the Roman period of a major multi period site on the south facing slope overlooking the valley. Major multiperiod site on south facing slope overlooking valley. Possible continuous settlement from Roman period until the Early Medieval when the village centre changes. The Romano British pottery includes greyware and shell gritted ware. {1} During monitoring of the excavation of the footings for an extension to Stickford House by Archaeological Project Services in August 2009, a probably early medieval pit [PRN 41020] was revealed which contained two residual sherds of Roman pottery. {2}{3}
