Full Description

A scatter of medieval sherds on a major multi period site on the south facing slope overlooking the valley. An additional 99 med sherds probably from scatter. {1} During monitoring of the excavation of the footings for an extension to Stickford House by Archaeological Project Services in August 2009, a probably early medieval pit and ditch were revealed. The pit contained animal bone, burnt stone and two fragments of early medieval pottery, and the ditch contained animal bone. Two residual sherds of possibly Roman pottery [PRN 41018] and a sherd of Saxon pottery [PRN 41019] were also found in the pit. {2}{3}
