An archaeological excavation was undertaken by Pre-Construct Archaeology Services in September to November 2010 on land at Hall Lane, Stickney prior to residential development. Area 2 revealed a structure with an east to west aligned uncoursed sandstone block wall and a north to south aligned wall made of post medieval handmade brick. Within the construction cut of a wall were sherds of Cistercian ware dating from about 1450 to 1650. A series of pits, a linear feature or ditch and ditches were also revealed, some of which contained post medieval pottery including Toynton/Bolingbroke ware, Potterhanworth ware, Lincoln glazed ware and white slipped ware, animal bone and brick. Sherds of residual Anglo Saxon pottery and a bone dress pin were also found in a pit that was dated to the post medieval period. {6}{7}
