Full Description

One of two remaining village water pumps in Corby Glen. This one is located in the Market Place, with the other located on the High Street (see MLI34965). {1} Cast iron water pump, dating from c.1850. It has a square pump casing with cast iron panels and a coved top with a fluted knop. On the front is an iron spigot above which there is a shield-shaped plaque bearing a griffin. The water supply was improved by W.H. Woodhouse of Irnham Hall, bringing it from a spring to standpipes. {2}{3}
