Full Description

ONE OF TWO REMAINING VILLAGE PUMPS IN THE MARKET PLACE. IT HAS A GRIFFEN COAT OF ARMS ON IT. {1} A Grade II Listed Pump which was constructed in cast iron in c.1850. It has a square pump casing with cast iron panels and a coved top with a fluted knop. On the front is an iron spigot above which there is a shield shaped plaque bearing a griffin. The water supply was improved by W. H. Woodhouse of Irnham Hall, bringing it from a spring to standpipes. {2}
