Full Description

SPARSE SCATTER OF SHERDS OVER PATCH 'c'. FEW C2 SHERDS INCLUDING SOME PROBABLY EARLY; BULK OF POTTERY C3 AND C4. {1} DURING A WATCHING BRIEF ON THE MOULTON CHAPEL TO WHAPLODE WATERMAINS, SEVERAL DITCHES WERE RECORDED FROM FIELD 14 (SEE ALSO 20388). FROM ONE OF THE DITCHES CAME GREY WARE, NENE VALLEY WARE, SOUTH LINCOLNSHIRE WARE, AND PIG, SHEEP, SHEEP/ GOAT BONES. AT THE EAST END OF FIELD 14 AND THE WEST EDGE OF FIELD 15 106 SHERDS OF POTTERY WERE RECOVERED WHEN STRIPPING THE EASEMENT. TYPES ARE MID-LATE C3 GREY WARE, NENE VALLEY WARE, CENTRAL GAULISH SAMIAN, SOUTH LINCOLNSHIRE WARE, OXIDISED WARE. {6}{7}
