Full Description
AT HAGBEACH DROVE THERE IS AN AREA OF COMPACT SETTLEMENT; A BLOCK OF SMALL, NEAR-RECTANGULAR ENCLOSURES, ALONSIDE AN EAST-WEST DROVE AND ITS NORTH AND SOUTH BRANCHES AND RECTANGULAR FIELDS EXTENDING EAST, WEST AND SOUTH TO A NATURAL WATERCOURSE FROM SSW TO NE. {1} DURING A WATCHING BRIEF ON THE MOULTON CHAPEL TO WHAPLODE WATERMAINS ROMAN REMAINS WERE RECORDED. THERE WERE SEVERAL PITS AND DITCHES IDENTIFIED, INCLUDING A DROVE WAY. SETTLEMENT ENCLOSURE DITCHES WERE FOUND AND PITS DENOTING SETTLEMENT ACTIVITY. FOR THE FINDS SEE 20389, 20413, 20414. {6}{7}
