Full Description

A faint, discrete magnetic anomaly was recorded in this location in April 2014, during magnetometry survey of land off Cliff Road, Welton. The anomaly was though to represent the remains of a possible pit of unknown date. {1} A small number of additional pit, ditch and gully-like features were revealed in this area during subsequent trial trenching, conducted in September 2014. Although no dating material was recovered from any of these features, they were all thought to be associated with former agricultural activity here, and may be contemporary with the remains of medieval and early post-medieval ridge and furrow also identified on the site (see PRN 56667). {2}{3}
