Description

A full excavation (encompassing almost 6 hectares) was carried out in advance of residential development, following the discovery of Iron Age and Roman features including salterns during trial trenching and other investigations. The excavation uncovered further details about these features, and identified further settlement features at the south of the site. Environmental sampling and augering was also carried out. [Note: some finds, e.g. querns, coins and brooches, have not had records created because it is unclear which of the two areas of Roman settlement they originate from.] {1}{2}
