A full excavation (encompassing almost 6 hectares) was carried out in advance of residential development, following the discovery of Iron Age and Roman features including salterns during trial trenching and other investigations. The excavation uncovered further details about these features, and identified further settlement features at the south of the site. Environmental sampling and augering was also carried out.
