Description

An excavation was undertaken to investigate the Anglo-Saxon cemetery at Fillingham. Five trenches were excavated: Trench 1 measured 8m by 6m; Trench 2 measured 3m by 2m; Trenches 3 and 4 measured 1.5m by 1m; and Trench 5 measured 4m by 2m. Trench 5 was placed to re-examine the trench which had been opened, backfilled and covered by tarpaulin in 1982.{1}
