PRN 54586
An excavation recorded features relating to a probable late 18th century farm building of unknown form and function, belonging to a range of farmbuildings, some of which are still extant. The farm is thought to have been constructed in the late 18th century, at about the same time as a quarry (PRN 54585) was excavated. The building lies right on the edge of the quarry, suggesting it was either built there or quarried up to. The excavated building lines up with a range of outbuildings to the east, and was originally part of a range surviving till the mid-20th century. A cobble floor was the earliest floor recorded in this building; a later floor was constructed of brick. A partial cellar was added at some point, and later backfilled with rubble. A soakaway was also added in to the centre of the main north wall of the building, consisting of two walls and a gully.{1}
