Description

Thirteen trial trenches were excavated to inform the proposed construction of a new holiday caravan park on land to the north of Burgh Road, Skegness. The trenches were targeted to investigate a number of geophysical anomalies recorded by a prior magnetometry survey (see ELI12856). Traces of previously recorded medieval ridge and furrow were confirmed in the southern part of the site. Two ditches of unknown date and a spread of post-medieval dumped material were also identified in the south-western corner of the site. The suspected system of rectangular enclosures in the northern half of the site was, however, resolved as a series of modern land drains and disturbance. {1}{2}
