Description
A programme of building recording was conducted prior to the conversion to housing of the farm buildings at Apley Manor Farm, Main Street, Apley. The buildings comprise a small complex of mid 19th century, brick-built cattle sheds and crewyards, built around the remains of a mid 18th century farmhouse. A large quantity of re-used stone, thought to have derived from the remains of 14th century structures at Barlings Abbey, was incorporated into the construction of the former farmhouse. The farmhouse was modified in the mid 19th century when the complex was expanded as part of the 'High Farming' movement. {1}{2}
