Full Description

The complex of farm buildings at Apley Manor Farm were the subject of detailed building recording, conducted in July 2015, prior to their proposed conversion to housing. This structure is a mid 19th century, single-storey cattle shed of 3 bays. It was constructed of red brick laid in a Flemish bond, and featured a pantile roof, though the tiles are no longer extant. The building adjoins an earlier, largely stone-built farmhouse to the west (see PRN 56539), and was constructed as part of the Victorian 'High Farming' movement, though interestingly not in the usual planned farm layout. The structure is open-fronted to the south, where it faces onto a small, single crew yard, defined by a now partially ruined brick wall. {1}{2}
