Description

A magnetometry survey was conducted to inform the proposed construction of a solar farm on land off Heath Lane, Honington. A previously unknown ditched enclosure of likely Iron Age or Romano-British date was identified, along with the remains of another previously identified ditched enclosure and a post-medieval quarry. A series of linear magnetic anomalies were also recorded, and were thought to represent a possible former field system of unknown date. {1} Subsequent trial trenching in this area proved all of the linear magnetic anomalies, thought to represent a former field system, to be of natural geological origin (see ELI12300).
