Abstract/Summary

The report on a program of archaeological strip and record evaluation that was undertaken at Ermine Street Solar Farm Development. The Excavations intitally consisted of 13 trenches, with one cancelled due to development works commencing prior to field work. The work revealed boundaries and enclosures that were identified from the previous geophysical surveying (ELI14810). Also revealed were structural features and a cess pit, indicating settlement activity. Pottery samples have confirmed a date of mid to late Iron Age date of the settlement activity, with the enclosures and field boundaries being a suspected later date. A undated square enclosure was also identified, suggesting a third phase of activity present.
