Title Land off Mareham Road, Horncastle: Archaeological Evaluation
Author/Originator
Date/Year 2013

Abstract/Summary

Archive for a programme of archaeological evaluation comprising seven trial trenches excavated on land to the north of Mareham Road, Horncastle, to inform the proposed construction of a housing development. Enclosure ditches were encountered, corresponding to anomalies identified during previous geophysical survey (ELI11378). A single post hole was encountered, hinting at the possible presence of structural remains within the enclosure. A discrete pit at the eastern edge of the site produced Romano-British pottery. North-south and northwest-southeast ridge and furrow was noted across the site.
