Abstract/Summary

Archive for an archaeological excavation conducted on land at Middlesykes Lane, Grimoldby, as a condition of planning consent for a new residential development. A complex series of intercutting Saxo-Norman, Medieval and early post-Medieval pits, ditches and gullies was encountered, along with an area of poached ground dating to the 11th-13th centuries, sealed in part by a cobbled surface of late Medieval date. More than 100 metal objects were recovered from the surface, including knives, hinges, buckles, a chain, a horseshoe, and two hooks.
