Archive for a programme of archaeological evaluation comprising sixteen trial trenches excavated on land to the north of Towngate East, Market Deeping, to inform the proposed construction of a residential development. One pit dated to the Bronze Age and three undated ditches were encountered. At the eastern edge of the site, evidence was found of a possible ploughed out bank of the adjacent Car Dyke. The presence of east-west aligned ridge and furrow and a backfilled post-Medieval pond was also noted.
