Abstract/Summary

Report on the archaeological monitoring of the excavation of boreholes and test pits, dug along part of the proposed route of the Lincoln Eastern Bypass. A deposit of closely-packed limestone fragments was recorded in one of the test pits, possibly representing the remains of a robbed out wall. A fragment of medieval tile was recovered from this deposit, indicating its likely association with the site of a medieval grange. A small fragment of possibly Roman brick or tile was also recovered from a borehole core, indicating possible Roman settlement activity in this area.
